I’m not even really sure what it is about, but I know facebook in Nashville has been going crazy over it. I guess public opinion really can matter.

Apparently the patient was given propofol during the procedure and something went bad. The patient later died at a hospital. This is so rare these days for someone to die during a wisdom tooth extraction, but I guess it is possible. As with most these cases like this, it was probably from the sedation more so than the actual surgery itself. Keeping the patients family in our prayers

It is important for everyone to know he was an Oral surgeon, which is quite different that a practicing general dentist. For the most part, us dentists and our teams do cleanings,fillings, root canals and crowns. Unlike oral surgeons who perform oral surgery all day with extractions, IV sedation, and more complicated surgerys. An oral surgeons office is basically a surgery center, much different from a normal office. Oral surgeons go through 4-5 more years of training and are specialist, and again very different from a regular dentist. I thought it was important for everyone to make that distinction, since some of the news channels are not.

I had shorts on last weekend, this weather is crazy. However, I do think the cold helps us to more fully appreciate the warm. Personally I cannot wait for summer. I just bought a new condo with a big pool, and I cannnot wait to use it. Have a great rest of the week.

This will give the Dentist side of the practice a 25% growth to do treatment without affecting the hygienist. I had been talking about doing it forever, but have just now gotten around to doing it. The contractor came in and pretty much did his part in a day. We got the equipment a couple of weeks ago. Everything is hooked up, and we are now just waiting on the cabinet and tv to go up.  Ital will be nice to have the extra overflow room to better serve our dental patients. Have a great week.

Such a sad event. I used to be pretty good friends with her 3 or 4 years ago. She always kind and nice to me.

It is hard to understand how someone could do something like this, it is unthinkable. How someone could harm little children blows my mind. Our hearts go out to the parents that lost their children. I went to a funeral this weekend of a friend who lost his life in a car wreck last week.  Someone I was just with 3 days before he died, and the pain on the face of his mother was unbearable. No parent should have to go through that. Life is so delicate. Please keep all those parents in your thoughts and prayers.

Next year hendersonville family dentistry will have a float in the parade, per my office manager. I personally did not get to go, but she said it was a blast, so next year we have commited to have a float. I haven’t done anything like this since college, so I am sure it will be fun. We are pretty glad that all the commercials are finally over. Who did everyone vote for? Honestly Im just glad that the economy hasnt tanked the way it has in some election year. I will admit our industry is a little nervous about  obamacare. Not sure if its going to be good or bad, but we dont really like not knowing. Personally I try to focus on things we have control over and not stress over things that we cannot change. Steven Covey calls it, focusing on your inner circle, where we have influence and control. Kinda smart I think. Have a great week
